Campaign for Learning wins at the world's biggest sustainability film festival

Campaign for Learning's short film, ‘It's You!’ was awarded joint winner in the ‘Children and welfare’ category, alongside Action for Children, at the Big Syn International Film Festival award ceremony.

Filmed in 2024 by director Scott Pickup, with support from the Media Trust, 'It's You!' was created to celebrate parental and family engagement in learning, as the centrepiece of the Parent Powered Learning campaign.

The Big Syn International Film Festival is the world’s biggest sustainability festival, reaching over 50 million in 120 countries, inspiring them to act on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and make positive changes for the environment, society and economy. It is promoted by the Mayor of London, United Nations, British Council and YouTube Kids, to name a few.

The founders of the festival, Dr. Ragini G Roy and Dr. Sourav Roy, remarked:

“We are happy to have created a global platform that blurs the lines between winning and losing, where communal interest takes over personal triumph- joining the dots of 360 degrees sustainability through relatable stories that are creating tangible impact for the planet and its people.”

The judges selected winners from over 550 films and 300 charity films. Judges included Academy (Oscar), BAFTA and Emmy award-winners, and leaders in sustainability, business, media and policy.

Juliette Collier, National Director and Miranda Baxter, Deputy Director (Families) at Campaign for Learning, who attended the ceremony with Scott Pickup, the film director, said:

"The impact of the successful delivery of sustainable development goals on families and children is indisputable. Children and families’ life outcomes and our planet depend on it.

"So, we’re honoured and grateful that the significance of parental engagement in children’s learning is being spotlighted and recognised by the Big Syn awards and that the film’s message has even greater, global reach.

"Thanks to all of the families who helped us develop our idea, and to our director Scott Pickup, his family and the volunteer film crew, with support from the Media Trust, for making the film possible."

Winning films from other charities include Acacia Family Support, Action for Children, Cats Protection, Children with Cancer UK, Friends of the Earth, Integrate UK, It’s on the Ball, Link to Change, Parents for Future UK, and Race Council Cymru.
