About the Family Learning Festival
The Family Learning Festival brings families, communities, and organisations together to celebrate learning. The festival aims to inspire a love of shared learning through story-building, recognising that every family is bursting with stories that shape our connections with each other and the world.
This year's festival runs from Saturday 3 October - Sunday 1 November.
Organisations across the UK are invited to mark the festival with creative, informal and fun learning activities that encourage different generations to learn together.
The festival builds on last year’s Story Power theme and expands on the National Year of Reading by engaging with stories beyond the page.
Why take part in the Family Learning Festival?
Organisations report a wide range of benefits from taking part in the Family Learning Festival. Our latest large-scale evaluation found that:
- 96% of organisations indicated they would take part in the festival again
- 79% of organisers reached new audiences as a result of their festival activities
- 73% of organisers delivered events that were attended by disadvantaged families or families at risk of social exclusion.
Taking part can help you strengthen community connections, showcase your work, and create learning opportunities for families.

This session will be delivered by Miranda Baxter, Deputy Director of the National Centre for Family Learning.
